Content Update coming by the weekend...

Long time no post... I have had 0 time to even mess with SecondRun in the last few months... Things have been very busy for me at work and my kids have started up Pop Warner football again... time is just in short supply. SecondRun doesn't pay the bills and is a hobby for me that costs me money just to keep up and running. I just want to let everyone know that I have no intention of just dropping SecondRun... I am trying to find a good way for it to exist right now... there are several issues:

1.) With Hulu Desktop now available ALOT of what SecondRun does is redundent... Sure it is a native Media Center interface but Hulu Desktop has access to ALL of their content... without constant updates that just isn't possible for us to do here.

2.) We still can't play flash video over extenders... that just isn't happening anytime soon and there are not good work arounds either... so SecondRun will not be playing Hulu content on extenders unless something changes here.

I have a big update to the website done that will allow users to add networks and content that isn't available in the base content of SecondRun but that isn't fully tested yet... I can't release it without a good deal of testing so there are some big changes coming I just haven't had the time to make sure that they are working the way they need to be.

ALSO... with all the new shows and seasons starting up this week and the next few weeks I will be loading a bunch of new content into SecondRun... that new content will be up and ready by the end of the weekend.

I hope to have an update of the app soon but all the new content will be coming by the end of the weekend time permitting. Thanks to everyone who has supported this project and continues to support this project. I will continue to look for ways to make SecondRun more unique and justify its existance outside of something like Hulu Desktop. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for features in SecondRun (other than extender support) feel free to drop them here.

VMCPlayIt has gotten Hulu content onto extenders: http://myweb.cableone.net/eluttmann04/projects/vmcPlayIt/default.html Maybe you can get some ideas from that project?

SRTV and extenders. On the Linksys DMA 2200 the Game Trailers and the Revision 3 work beautifully...great job, hope the others will work similarly soon

Being able to submit content online is a great idea, but I would still like to be able to add my own content on my own PC. It'd be great if we can drop our own images into a folder, and have SecondRun use that. Or find our own link to a hulu RSS feed, and add it on our own, without the whole world being updated. The web version is a good idea, but I think individual customizability is the key.

I love your hulu desktop WMC plugin - since it was something you quickly threw together, is it possible you can make the source available? I have some questions about implementation and I'd love to see how you got it to do what it's doing. plus the name looks wonky on wmc7 - which it does run on by the way... Thanks, Chris

Thanks for the update post, but your doing the SAME thing that upset earlier fans. Just say you will have an update "soon." When you say you'll have something by the weekend, then that weekend comes and goes, it looks awful on your end. I understand this is a side project, but learn to leave out dates. This was frustrating earlier in the year, when people felt this site became stagnant, and it's plaguing the site again this fall.

This iste is no longer active. The software never materialized so anyone who really wants to access all the great streaming services should go to http://myweb.cableone.net/eluttmann04/projects/vmcPlayIt/default.html and download vmcplayit and playon. With these two programs everything streams even to extenders! Flash video works fine and in fact some of the programs look almost as good as HD! JC
