Twitter... SecondRun update coming in a day or so...

I setup a Twitter account today so anyone who wants to can follow development updates without contantly coming back to the website. This will be a great way for people to stay on top of the latest developments! I would also like to get an idea of how many people out there are really interested in the project... so if you have a Twitter account please sign up to follow the SecondRun updates!
There will be an update in the next few days... There will be PARTIAL extender support in this release... Now before everyone gets too excited... it is just extender support for providers that have mpg/wmv based content... There are only a couple of items out there right now... the best of which is Revision3's entire lineup. No Hulu content or any of the other main networks on extenders just yet... This update also addresses the problem with the movies feature, it also deals with episode thumbs a little different so some of the sites that didn't show thumbs before now will... we have pretty much every thumb type accounted for now so it the site has thumbs in their feed you will see them.
I am still working on full extender support but we just are not there yet... I have a couple of different solutions that I am working on but none that are far enough along for anyone to get too excited yet. The limited support coming in the next release will be such a big tease! It works GREAT for the networks that provide non flash versions of their content!

I just wanted to check in and let everyone know what I am working on... I changed the "no image" posters and backgrounds to something that looked a little better... I am working on extender support along with better integration with remote controls, etc... I dont know when I will have the next build out but between now and then I will be posting some new content and working on some of the show art. I just didn't want anyone to think that I wasn't working on this project anymore... I haven't had too much free time lately! |

Just posted the latest build to the site... here is a run down of whats new/changed in this one:
- Took out trailers and replace it with Search... Trailers will be handled as "networks" see the new hulu entry with trailers listed under it.
- Early implementation of the search feature... note... this only searches shows (I am not indexing episode data... that is being pulled in via RSS in real time)... there is also no onscreen keyboard yet... but you can search with the keyboard.
- Big changes to the provider profiles... this now enables the app to use a wider variety of provider profile definitions (with different justifications like AdultSwim)... I should have all the bases covered here going forward!
- Remote bugs fixed... the remote had been doing some funky stuff when you tried to watch multiple episodes of stuff back to back... that is all fixed now... still dont have the normal buttons programmed but the current buttons should be working nice and smoothly!
- Changed up the episdoe screen a little... moved the title to the top of the page and got rid of the description (it was on the poster listing anyway) and opened up more room for the episode list.
- Added some animations to the girds/scrollers... just testing out animations... should look a little smoother now
- Added a "token" setting... this will be big news in a few days... I have decided that the best way to let users customize the appearance of the app and hide networks, etc is to do so by creating an account on SecondRun.tv and setting up preferences on the web... kind of like Netflix... its ALOT easier to setup the networks you want to see on a website than in Media Center... down the road I will most likely support both but I can pretty quickly give some decent customization options using accounts... the token will allow you to access your account using a single entry in the settings section. You can create that account yet (I am still testing that stuff, but you wont have to put in any thing more than an email address and password so you can login and modify your settings... the token will be generated automatically).
- The about Token feature MAY allow for some user specific content down the road... meaning users could put there one networks, shows in if they are not already in the main listing... it would be specific to their user only and this is still only an idea... I will see what I can come up with...
Those are the main things... I am getting to a point where I like the layout and overall function of the app and I should be moving to some polishing (remote control, animations, etc) and then moving on to Extender support... I will try to keep the site a little more up to date in the next few weeks as my I progress... but anyway... go grab the new build!

UPDATE: I found one more thing I need to change on the provider profiles before I put out this release... it should be done today though!

TNT content is now up as well... they popup a javascript message when you go into full screen mode to tell you how to get out of full screen mode so the full screen works but you have to hit ok after that... I *think* that you can just hit the OK button on your remote and that will take care of the popup box! |

Added content from the following networks:
- G4 TV (Just clips... because thats all thats out there).
- Revision3... They have some pretty cool shows that I have never seen or heard of... thanks to whomever suggested it!
- Viddler... This site is kinda like YouTube... the only "show" I added was a feed of the Engadget videos up there... also... the full screen function doesn't always work on their player because the videos are not always the same size!
Also... many of you have asked for adultswim... I am working on it! The player is left justified (its the only one I have come across that is so far) and I need to make a few changes to the provider profiles to accomodate that... I have already made most of the changes but it will require an update to the application to be able to read the new changes... but again... I will get that up as soon as I can.
ABC has recently changed their player in a such a way that I cannot get a direct link to an episode in a playable format... I am still looking for ways to handle this... I will let everyone know once I get it worked out.
I still need to finish my importers for fancast and sling... Once I get those done there will be a BUNCH more shows/networks up there... I will also be working on a new update to the and most likely will be looking at putting in a search feature... now that there is so much content it would really help to have that out there... I will probably put some type of category filtering in as well in the next build.
AGAIN... To anyone out there having issues... I am looking at all the posts, I just don't have time to do the work and reply to all the posts... If you have a problem and have posted a comment about it I have read it and will do what I can to address your problems... I still plan on getting a forum out there soon as well! THIS IS STILL A VERY EARLY BETA AND IS NOT INTENDED FOR GLITCH FREE EVERYDAY USE!

Fixed CBS Content...

| I fixed the CBS content... the feeds should all be working correctly now... there is one small issues still: hulu started putting the HD and NON-HD shows into the same feeds... if a show has both HD and NON-HD use the HD ones... the provider profiles (fullscreen locations, etc) are different for the 2 different formats but my profile assignment is by show, not episode... so if you pick a non-hd version and there is an hd version available the full screen buttons wont work... all shows with no HD should work fine. |
