NEW BUILD - Just posted a new build tonight... Posted: 3/8/2020 10:52:59 PM | By: Yaggs File Under: Home Page News |
OK... Just uploaded the latest build... here is what I have added:
- Remote Integration - You can now use your remote to put the videos in full screen mode, in hi-res mode, and to pause/play the videos. Pause/Play isn't quite working correctly for ALL providers but I am working on that. This also does away with the automatic full screen, hi-res... I did that because I had to make the app "sleep" for a specified period of time so that the video would be loaded and ready to go into those modes... it should just work better now that you can do it with the remote... I may put the auto back in later but have it be optional.
- New Settings Screen - This is an early implementation... you will need your keyboard and mouse to make changes here (I will make it remote friendly down the road)... The CustomXOffset and CustomYOffset allow you to specify an offset to apply to the fullscreen and hi-res commands... that way if my calcuations don't quite but the clicks in the correct spot you can manually add some pixels to the x/y directions to make it work in your setup... that should help to account for overscan, etc... just enter your values in the boxes, test it, and then make adjustments until it works correctly. The HideNetworkIDs is just an early addition that should eventually be a list of checkboxes that allow you to hide networks from the main network list... lets face it... there alot of stuff in there people might not watch... you need to get the network ids... I will post of list of them to the website tonight... just enter a comma seperated list of the IDs you want to hide (no spaces)... but that will let you filter out some of the networks and speed up the whole app! Again... this settings section is a very early implementation!
- Added Some Error Trapping - Now the app wont crash when one of the show feeds returns no results. The main offender here is CBS... I will try to fix all of the feed urls for the CBS content tomorrow.
-
Window 7 Install - The app should now install in all versions of Windows 7 without using Orca.
-
Made Text Bigger on Episode Selection Screen - I made the episode titles a little bigger and made more room for them to wrap to about 3 lines...
Thats the main stuff... I have tweaked a few things on the back end but the big reason for this release is the remote control stuff... it really makes it much easier to watch TV with SecondRun.tv.
Oh and in case your wondering why I made the Play/Pause button a # key instead of the Play/Pause button on the remote... well... my main development PC doesn't have a remote... and I dont have any media keys on it either so I use the plain old keyboard... down the road I will map the regular remote buttons to the functions that make more sense and probably have some alternate mappings as well for keyboard users.
Enough of my blabbing... go download the new build! |

Next Build details.. Posted: 3/4/2020 7:50:46 AM | By: Yaggs File Under: Home Page News |
The next build should be along hopefully tonight or tomorrow morning... Here is some of what should be in the next build:
- Early version of remote control integration.
-
New Settings Screen... this will allow you to setup preferences for various things... mainly custom offsets for the full screen clicks, etc...
-
EDIT: Windows 7 install woes should be taken care of in this build as well.
Thats the big stuff... The remote control integration will be the main new feature in this build! Its already working... I am just working out the button codes for the specific buttons on a media center remote... but this will get rid of the need for the app to automatically go full screen and allow you to put it in full screen when you want to and turn on or off hi-res by yourself....
Stay tuned! |

Spent some time with the kids... as a result I added Cartoon Network and 4KidsTV content! Posted: 3/2/2020 6:52:10 AM | By: Yaggs File Under: Home Page News |
Spent alot of time this weekend with my kids and as a result I added both the Cartoon Network, and 4kidsTV to SecondRun.tv! There were probably about 40+ shows between the two networks! One of my sons LOVES Ben 10 so he was pretty excited! Now I just need to get that extender support working :)
I will be working on processors to pull in ALL the content from Fancast and Sling this week... I already have a few shows plugged in from those so the provider mappings are alread done... just need to write the importer! |

Hulu Content Fullscreen/Hi-Res Temporary Fix Posted: 2/28/2009 7:40:22 AM | By: Yaggs File Under: Home Page News |
Hulu is undergoing site maintenance today and has a banner on the top of all the pages that says so... this was throwing off the auto full screen and auto hi-res functions in SecondRun... I have adjusted my provider settings to account for this and videos should now play fine... once they remove the banner I will have to take my adjustment out so there may be a slight period of time when the buttons don't work after they go out of their maintenacne period. |

NEW BUILD JUST RELEASED! Posted: 2/28/2009 12:07:50 AM | By: Yaggs File Under: Home Page News |
OK... I finally got things to a point where I could post another build... as always:
REMEMBER THIS IS STILL A VERY EARLY BETA!!!
OK... There are still tons on little nagging things that I need to get worked out that are not in this build but I really was changing the way the app worked this time around... Here is a list of whats new in this build:
- New TV By Title View
- New Menu Scroller at the top to let you select between different views
- Add Movies and populated it with ALL the movies available on hulu! There is no box art yet... just waiting on an API key for a db website...
- Added coding to allow for Joost feeds, Fancast Feeds, and several other like You Tube, NFL Network, etc... some of those networks were there before but you couldn't click on them with the previous build.
- Added an about popup showing the version number
- Add the rest of the hulu TV content! All current hulu content should now be available!
Those are the big things... now here is what DIDN'T make it into this build but I am working on for the next build:
- Need to finish keyboard/remote hooks so you can just press full screen/high-res buttons instead of having the app do it by itself.
- Need to add code to account for users DPI when calculating the position of the full screen / high res buttons.
- Trailers....
- Search Function...
- Settings Screen
- Windows 7 install issues... it should work... I removed the checks for Vista in the second build I put out but I know some of you still need to use Orca to get it to install... I will look into this...
Those are just a few things I will be working on for the next build... but I hope everyone likes this build and finds it a little more useful and easy to get around in than the previous one!!! I'm going to be!!! Its 2:15 AM! As always just leave comments with your issues/bugs... I am still working on a forum here... I want to run one on this site, not a 3rd party one so I will get that done... it just isn't at the top of the priority list right now... also... I know that I dont really reply to the posts on the site... believe me... I read them, I just don't have the time to write everyone back! |

What I am Working On... Posted: 2/24/2009 11:42:44 PM | By: Yaggs File Under: Home Page News |
QUICK NOTE: Remember... this application is still a very early BETA and is still a major workin in progress! I am no where near what I would consider a "stable" build that is really suitable for everyday use!
I know I said I should have a build out today but I am still wrapping up some things with the current version... I have added some new navigation that will allow me to present all the content in different ways and allow for access to Movies, Trailers, etc... I have a new view in that alllows you to just look at a list of all the shows available... I will also be adding a "shows by genre" section so you can select a genre and then view all the shows in that genre... I am also working on adding a settings section that will allow users to add an "offset" value that will be used to modify the locations of the full screen clicks for those of you who are having issues... It should work in the current build for most setups but for those who are using different DPI settings and have different resolutions on secondary displays, etc this feature will allow you to make a one time setting and have all your full screen clicks work going forward (hopefully this is just a temporary fix and that down the road I can auto detect the details of your resolution and account for them... but this will atleast get users working for now). In the settings screen you will also be able to set your desired staring view as well as namings for your favorites lists, etc...
Anyway... I will try to get the next build wrapped up tomorrow and get it out to everyone... I want to get enough into it that it is worth the hassel of the uninstall and reinstall! |
