New Build is Now Available!

I just posted a new build of SecondRun.tv!  REMEMBER!!! This is still an early BETA and is not in any way near complete... many of the features are still a work in progress!
  • Add new system for putting videos in full screen automatically (there will be a 30 second delay from starting the video to it going full screen) *Note: This feature is resolution independent... I tried to hit all know resolutions!  If you have problems let me know your resolution!
  • Add automatic selection of the 480p mode on hulu videos *Note: This feature is resolution independent... I tried to hit all know resolutions!  If you have problems let me know your resolution!
  • Should now bypass the check to make sure you using Vista and allow installation on Windows 7
  • Added build number that will check for new updates and *notify* you when a new build is available
  • Fixed mouse support for all scrolling menus
  • Increased font size on all menus
  • Added 3 new favorites menus that allow you to tag shows into any of the 3 favorites lists (you do this by pressing 1, 2, or 3 on your remote or the keyboard... if an item is already in the selected favorites lists pressing the button again will remove it... NOTE: I still need to add icons to designate which shows are in your favorites when your scrolling the lists... thats coming soon...
  • Changed the square around the network logos to something that looks more "Media Center"
I will be focusing on content and images for a few days... but I will be posting another new build soon!  I will keep plugging away as I have free time... Also... I know many people have offered their help in many different ways... I plan on setting up a forum on this site pretty soon so builds, bugs, etc can all be discussed an organized here...

Curious Yaggs or anyone else when you enter say WB and you choose say Babylon 5 I only see a portion of the episodes is this just me or a current limitation?

Love the new look and favorites! It looks like you can't use the keypad to add a favorite, only the top row of numbers.

I'm running Windows 7 x64 and get the same error message I got on the last build "SecondRun.tv can only be installed on Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate Edition"

For those of you having problems installing on Windows 7 64bit like I did (because of the Vista OS version check). Here is the work around: Go here http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2020/07/12/180792.aspx to downlaod Orca. Run orca and open the SecondRun setup.msi install file. Go to custom action and double click "CA_ErrWrongWindowsVersion" Now just rename it "dummy" Click File Save and you can now run the install sucessfully.

Yaggs, great job. I'm playing with it now and its far ahead of your first Beta release. Thanks and again, great job.

Thanks for the update! I just installed it and tried out BSG to see how it looked. For some reason it doesn't go into full screen mode, and it's in low resolution.

This plug-in isn't working for me. I can see the channel listing just fine, then the show listing, then the episode listing. But as soon as I click on an episode, I get an error message saying "Unable to launch 'Secondruntv'". Any idea what's going wrong?
Posted: 2/17/2009 8:09:16 PM | By: James | Rating:

Still can't get past the installer, gets towards the end and tells me "error writing to file:secondruntv.dll. verify that you have access to that directory." When I retry, "the installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. The error code is 2350" . Any ideas would be appreciated. Vista x-86, all updates installed.

I would recommend getting content for Fox and FX from the network's website instead of via Hulu. Fox and FX stream their content in HD vs. Hulu's 480p. The same goes for any other network's content that can also be accessed via Hulu. If the network's stream is high quality, then it should be used instead of Hulu. I wouldn't use SR for watching Fox or FX as it is now.

The Program looks great, but its just not working properly for me. Once I go to the program, changing to full screen stops the video and never goes to full screen. It doens't freeze, it just stops. When I manually go to full screen, the video is choppy. When going to the Networks site, playing the video, once I manually go to full screen the video is great, not choppy at all, but you have to do everything manually. I'm sure going to full screen within SecondRun is an issue on my end, my laptop does it without any problems, but my Media Center PC just won't do it.

Is there someplace we can start a support forum to help each other out with issues we encounter? I'm running Media Center on Windows 7 and I'm also getting the dreaded, "Program Not Responding". I'm dying to get this working...

Awesome job!! works great on my Vista64 machine! im getting a media extender tomorrow, so im exited to see how it runs! any plans on adding abc.com content? and maybe adding an option to do a list view of the networks and shows?

Awesome plug in. Can't wait to download this new build. It would be nice if the network listings were in a grid format (vs the single row) so you could more quickly access channels.

Aw, man. I almost wet myself when I found out I could be watching Hulu in Media Center. Alas, I'm also unable to install on Windows 7 due the installer's requirement for Vista. Any chance this will be fixed soon?

THIS BUILD IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Question: How to delete a favorite show if accidentally added to a Favorites folder?
Posted: 2/18/2009 8:02:02 AM | By: daniel | Rating:

To delete a show just click the favorites number on it again... that will remove it...

@Aaron The workaround that Brad Bamford posted above in this comment thread works perfectly. After following his instructions I was able to install without a hitch!

Thanks for working on this software. It's great. Question: how could you build in an Advertising option - not in the shows but as a way to use it to search for products with online ads if we needed something (like a new car, etc).

When I hit cancel on Vista Ultimate the video goes back, but the audio keeps playing over what ever I go to next live tv, recorded, etc. I have to close and restart MCE to stop the audio stream

Awesome! Would love to be able to sort by Show Title, rather than channel/source.

how about the ability to have the background stay the same as media center as many others and myself have different ones then the Blue.

Vista MCE works great except when i go full screen, sound but no video screen res is 1200x800

I'm having the same problem as James. I get an error message saying "Unable to launch 'Secondruntv'" Are more people having this problem?

This looks awesome. I've noticed one issue with certain shows that require username authentication. Is there any way to store your hulu username and password? Also is it possible to have 2 rows for the channels cause 1 row makes it sort of cumbersome to scroll through. Thanks for everything, i've been waiting a year for something like this!

I've tried disabling UAC, registering the plugin by hand with registermceapp, even gacutil to re-register the assembly...nothing I try seems to get me past the, "Program Not Responding" error. I'm on Windows 7, 32 bit version upgraded from Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit. Does anyone have any ideas? I'll try anything short of a re-install of the OS...
