SecondRun.tv - Internet TV Plug-In for Windows Media Center

Just posted the latest build to the site... here is a run down of whats new/changed in this one:

Took out trailers and replace it with Search... Trailers will be handled as "networks" see the new hulu entry with trailers listed under it.
Early implementation of the search feature... note... this only searches shows (I am not indexing episode data... that is being pulled in via RSS in real time)... there is also no onscreen keyboard yet... but you can search with the keyboard.
Big changes to the provider profiles... this now enables the app to use a wider variety of provider profile definitions (with different justifications like AdultSwim)... I should have all the bases covered here going forward!
Remote bugs fixed... the remote had been doing some funky stuff when you tried to watch multiple episodes of stuff back to back... that is all fixed now... still dont have the normal buttons programmed but the current buttons should be working nice and smoothly!
Changed up the episdoe screen a little... moved the title to the top of the page and got rid of the description (it was on the poster listing anyway) and opened up more room for the episode list.
Added some animations to the girds/scrollers... just testing out animations... should look a little smoother now
Added a "token" setting... this will be big news in a few days... I have decided that the best way to let users customize the appearance of the app and hide networks, etc is to do so by creating an account on SecondRun.tv and setting up preferences on the web... kind of like Netflix... its ALOT easier to setup the networks you want to see on a website than in Media Center... down the road I will most likely support both but I can pretty quickly give some decent customization options using accounts... the token will allow you to access your account using a single entry in the settings section. You can create that account yet (I am still testing that stuff, but you wont have to put in any thing more than an email address and password so you can login and modify your settings... the token will be generated automatically).
The about Token feature MAY allow for some user specific content down the road... meaning users could put there one networks, shows in if they are not already in the main listing... it would be specific to their user only and this is still only an idea... I will see what I can come up with...

Those are the main things... I am getting to a point where I like the layout and overall function of the app and I should be moving to some polishing (remote control, animations, etc) and then moving on to Extender support... I will try to keep the site a little more up to date in the next few weeks as my I progress... but anyway... go grab the new build!

Can you add to the fax or somewhere how to set up custom x. y offset. How do i figure out my x, y? can you add a setting where it where will remember where you click full screen to give you the value?

Dude, can I *please* put in a request that you *not* make have to create & remember yet another password, just to manage a little personalization in their VMC? It doesn't sound like there's any real *benefit* to the end user of having to create an account here (other than "it's the only way that's available right now to enable users to configure and pull down their current customization"). As an alternative, would you please look into supporting OpenID as the authentication mechanism? It still means you'll have to manage accounts on your server, but you *won't* have to manage passwords, and users *won't* have to remember yet another password. I had a quick look around the current OpenID libraries, and this looks like one of the best (assuming you have the power to install this kind of library on the site): http://code.google.com/p/dotnetopenid/

Good job. Thanks for the update. Please keep them coming. About the userid thing, there are also other mechanisms for authentication that can be used like the computer name / hash for identification. Userids / passwords can be cumbersome. Anyways, like the content and mods.

Im surprised extender support is the last thing on your list. Once this is done and fixed, you may have to lease more bandwidth on another server to account for the demand. Why watch Tv shows on anything other than a Tv with an extender? I dont get it. Extender support should have been the first thing to tackle.

I agree with last commenter. The extender is the real holy grail to making any on demand app really successful. Right now vmcplayit using the playon app has worked out the extender issue with som minor bugs. I hope you will redouble your efforts in this direction! JC

This is only a "design" comment, but the "no poster available" image is quite jarring with everything else looking so great. Can you just use a nicely designed "generic" poster that resembles other posters so that it blends in with the rest of the list? THANKS!

Everything works great except when I click Movies a popup says "Invalid Application- Unable to launch "SecondRunTV" Kinda bites... But the rest works! Hooray!

I must say excellent work! This has made VMCE even better to own. Thank you for your (and your families) hard work - it is appreciated big time. I sat and watched the first season of firefly yesterday and was able to enjoy it on my big screen. Again, thanks very much for the hard work.

All I got when I installed Second Run was: "Invalid Application- Unable to launch "SecondRunTV" anytime I tried to access anything. It just never worked for me.
